The Big Sky Conference plays football at the Football Championship Subdivision Level (FCS). The division is no longer referred to as Division I-AA. Please do not refer to our conference or any of our schools as Division II.
What to Call Our Institutions
Eastern Washington University - Eastern Washington - EWU.
DO NOT use University of Eastern Washington, UEW, or EW
All athletic teams (Male and Female) are the Eagles.
Idaho State University - Idaho State - ISU.
DO NOT use University of Idaho State, or UIS, or IS
All athletic teams are the Bengals.
The University of Montana - Montana - UM.
DO NOT use Montana University or MU.
With the exception of the women's basketball team, all athletic teams are the Grizzlies or the Griz on second reference. DO NOT use Grizz.
The women's basketball team is The Lady Griz.
Montana State University - Montana State - MSU.
DO NOT ose University of Montana State, UMS, or MS.
All athletic teams are the Bobcats.
Northern Arizona University - Northern Arizona - NAU.
DO NOT use University of Northern Arizona, UNA, or NA.
