OGDEN, Utah (August 29, 2017) –
Portland State’s Katie Forsee and Montana’s Taryn Miller picked up this week’s Big Sky Conference soccer honors. Forsee earned this week’s offensive honor while Miller picked up the defensive nod.

Forsee, a senior from Broomfield, Colo., came up big in the Vikings’ 1-0 win over Nevada on Friday. PSU was reduced to 10 players when Regan Russell was issued her second yellow card in the 72nd minute. Playing a player-down for the final 32 minutes, Forsee proved to be the hero with a goal in the 104th minute that sealed the victory.

The midfielder ran onto a ball on the far right of the field and dribbled past a defender before firing a left-footed shot past the Nevada goalkeeper on the near post. The goal marked Forsee’s fifth-career game-winning goal, which tied her for fourth all-time at Portland State with Megan Martin (2009-12) and Amanda Dutra (2009-12). The goal against Nevada also marked the first “golden goal” of Forsee’s career. Forsee took three shots in the Vikings 2-1 loss to Gonzaga on Sunday.

Miller, a junior from Greenacres, Wash., anchored the Montana defense over the weekend. The Grizzlies picked up a pair of wins with a 2-0 shutout of Air Force on Friday and a 4-1 win over San Jose State on Sunday. The Griz defense allowed just one goal in 180 minutes thanks, in large part, to Millers’ defensive efforts. UM allowed just two shots on goal against Air Force.

Miller also chipped in on the offensive side with a goal in the 71st minute against SJSU and an assist in the 38th minute. With the pair of wins, UM improved to 3-1 on the season.

Montana heads to Pullman, Wash., for a pair of games against Georgia Southern on Friday and No. 14 Nebraska on Sunday. Portland State has only one match this week as the Vikings welcome George Fox University to Hillsboro, Ore., on Thursday. PSU vs. GFU can be seen live on WatchBigSky.com and Pluto TV.
