OGDEN, Utah (December 27, 2016) – The 2016-17 #RoadToReno has moved into conference play as all 12 Big Sky Conference teams hit the court this weekend in league action.
Conference play begins this Thursday with four games on tap. Defending champion, Weber State begins play at Montana State while Montana hosts Idaho State. Portland State and Sacramento State host North Dakota and Northern Colorado, respectively.
Eastern Washington and Idaho meet in Friday’s lone contest with the tip set for noon, Pacific. All Big Sky Conference men’s basketball games can be seen live and for free on WatchBigSky.com and on the Big Sky mobile app.
Top Performances
Ahmaad Rorie (UM) - Rorie led all scorers with 21 points against the Waves, and held Pepperdine’s preseason all-conference guard Lamond Murray Jr. to just 14 points on the day.
The sophomore from Tacoma, Wash., also added eight assists and pulled down five rebounds and went 3-4 from behind the arc, giving the Griz a 71-70 nonconference win.
Bryce Canda (PSU) - Canda averaged 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds as the Vikings won a pair of game last week. Canda had 12 points and 11 rebounds in PSU’s 77-75 win over Portland. He scored a game-high 19 points with two assists in only 15 minutes against Walla Walla. Canda shot 12-18 from the field (.667), and 7-13 from three-point range (.538). He had three assists, two steals and no turnovers in 53 total minutes.
DJ Miles (UNC) - DJ Miles scored 22 points for the second consecutive game in the 77-61 win over UC Riverside. Miles finished the game 9-of-12 (75%) from the field and 3-of-5 (60%) from three-point range. He scored 15 of his 22 points in the first half and scored 7 straight points in consecutive possessions in the first half to lead UNC on a 14-4 run. Miles has now had a 20-point performance in 3 of the last 4 games and has reached double figures in 5 of the last 7 games.
