Volleyball: As we approach the halfway mark in Big Sky volleyball league play this weekend, multiple teams continue to jock for position atop the standings and in the conference tournament picture. With 10 games left in conference action per team, the race will have numerous key matchups this upcoming week.
NAU and SUU each host PSU and Sac State in some important south division tilts. Saturday’s match between the Lumberjacks and Hornets pits the two current south division leaders against each other. PSU and SUU will each look to end skids and get back in the tournament hunt. Sac State will wrap up a tough opening schedule with seven of its first eight league matches on the road. UND and UNC host the Montana schools, with the Bears looking to stay on the Fighting Hawks’ heels in the north division. Weber State hosts Idaho while EWU and ISU put their winning streaks on the line against each other in Pocatello Thursday. Saturday will have a pair of travel partner matchups, with WSU heading up I-15 to face the Bengals, and EWU traveling across the Palouse to clash with the Vandals.
Soccer: The top five teams in the Big Sky Conference soccer standings are separated by just six points with three weeks left in the regular season. Idaho holds a 5-1-0 Big Sky record and a two-point lead over second place Eastern Washington. Weber State will host the league-leaders Friday in the first night game on Weber State's campus. Eastern Washington will look to catch Idaho as the Eagles travel to Southern Utah and Northern Arizona while Northern Colorado will host two crucial Big Sky games this weekend.
