After week two of the 2015 soccer season, Northern Colorado sits atop the Big Sky standings thanks to two wins last week. The Bears topped ACC member, Pittsburgh, 1-0 in overtime on Thursday in their home opener. UNC then picked up a 1-0 road win at Southeast Missouri State on Sunday.
 
North Dakota and Idaho each hold a 2-1 record with UND picking up a big win over rival South Dakota on Sunday. Freshman Varonica Kessle scored two goals for UND in the 4-0 win and earned her first career Big Sky weekly honor.
 
Idaho State sophomore Maria Sanchez helped lead the Bengals to their first win of the season against Westminster College Sunday afternoon. The Mexican national team member leads the conference in overall shots (17), shots per game (4.25), points (9), points per game (2.25), goals (4) and goals per game (1.0).
 
Idaho’s Clara Gomez has the top spot in assists in the Big Sky with 4 (1.33 per game), while Portland State goalkeeper, Angela Haluska leads the way with 22 saves on the season. Northern Colorado keeper Madeline Burdick leads the conference with two shutouts on the season.
 
ISU gets this week’s action started with a road match at New Mexico State on Thursday at 2 p.m. Mountain. Idaho has a big in-state contest at Boise State on Friday and the Bengals will also meet the Broncos on Sunday.
 
The Montana Grizzlies will look for two big wins over power conference opponents this weekend as they host Washington State on Friday at 5 p.m. Mountain and Iowa on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Both matches will be streamed live on Griz All-Access.
