SAC Men, NAU Women Lead Going Into Final Day
Sacramento State men and Northern Arizona women lead team scores after the second day of the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship.
The meet will conclude tomorrow starting with field events at 10 a.m. Mountain and running events will begin at 12:30 p.m. Catch the meet on ihigh.com.
The Hornets lead with 40 points. Second place is Montana with 37 points and Eastern Washington is third with 35 points. Following EWU is Northern Arizona (4
th, 33 points), Idaho State (5
th, 30), Southern Utah (6
th, 19), Montana State (7
th, 15), Weber State (8
th, 11), North Dakota (9
th, 9) and Portland State (10
th, 5).
On the women’s side, the Lumberjacks lead with 53 points. Montana is currently second with 36 points and Weber State is third with 30 points. Following WSU is SUU (4
th, 27), Northern Colorado (5
th, 23), SAC (6
th, 18), PSU (7
th, 14), MSU (8
th, 13), EWU (9
th, 9), ISU (10
th, 7) and UND (11
th, 4).
Leading the way for the Most Valuable Athlete is Lindsey Hall of Montana, who has scored 22 points for her team. Second play is Southern Utah’s Shaye Springall, who had 13 points. On the men’s side, Montana’s Austin Emry leads the way with 16 points. Then we have a four-way tie for second with 10 points.
SUU’s Springall broke her own record in the 60-meter hurdles that she set yesterday. Today she had a time of 8.19.
Yesterday, Springall set a new Big Sky Championship and all-time record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.23. She broke Sakya Bolton of Sacramento State's record of 8.40 set in 2012.
To earn all-conference honors, an athlete need to finish top three in his/her event.
