Idaho's Scott, EWU's Jois Share Player of the Week
OGDEN, Utah (Dec. 9, 2014) - Eastern Washington’s Venky Jois and Idaho’s Mike Scott have been selected as the Co-Big Sky Conference men’s basketball Players of the Week.
Jois, a 6-foot-9 junior forward from Boronia, Australia, tied his career-high with 38 points in the Eagles’ 87-75 road win over Seattle on Saturday, Dec. 6. Jois also pulled down eight rebounds, blocked three shots and had two steals. Jois made 13-of-18 shots from the floor and 12-of-15 from the free-throw line. It marked Jois’ second consecutive 38-point game. The victory moved Eastern Washington to 7-1.
Scott, a 6-foot senior guard from Los Angeles, averaged 19 points, five assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 rebounds per game as Idaho earned victories over Washington State of the Pac-12 and previously unbeaten UC Davis. Scott scored 19 points with six assists, two steals and one turnovers as Idaho beat Washington State on the road 77-71 on Thursday, Dec. 3, the Vandals’ first win over the Cougars since 2002. Scott scored 19 points with four assists, three steals and three rebounds as Idaho rallied for a 79-71 win over the Aggies. Scott has committed just three turnovers all season.
