Last Week’s Recap…
OGDEN, Utah (April 15, 2013) – After a month of Big Sky conference softball, Portland State tops the standings with an 8-1 conference record.
 
Over the weekend, Idaho State swept the three-game series over Northern Colorado.  On Saturday, Northern Colorado held a 5-2 lead over Idaho State heading into the fifth inning.  In the top of the fifth, Idaho State scored two runs and added another in the sixth to tie the game at 5-5.  The game headed into extra innings; in the top of the ninth, Idaho State scored four runs to give the Bengals the 9-5 win over the Bears.  In the second game of the doubleheader, Idaho State defeated Northern Colorado 15-4 in six innings.  On Sunday, Idaho State beat Northern Colorado 14-8.  These three wins gave Idaho State the three-game series sweep.  Idaho State also defeated Utah Valley 8-6 on Wednesday.  Northern Colorado defeated Black Hills State 20-12 in six innings on Monday.
 
Sacramento State and Weber State split the first two games of the series.  In the first game on Friday, Sacramento State scored all three runs in the third inning to give the Hornets the 3-0 win over Weber State.  In the second game, WSU and SAC went 15 innings before determining the winner.  With the game tied 3-3 at the end of the seventh, the game headed into extra innings.  Weber State scored three runs in the top of the 15th inning.  The game was suspended for the evening due to darkness and was finished Saturday morning before the final game of the series.  When play resumed on Saturday, Sacramento State scored a run in the bottom of the 15th inning, which gave Weber State the 6-4 win over Sacramento State.  In the series finale on Saturday, Sacramento State defeated Weber State 7-0.  Caitlin Brooks threw a one-hit shutout for the Hornets.  The win gave the Hornets the 2-1 series win over the Wildcats.  Weber State also split a doubleheader with the University of Utah. WSU lost 11-2 in five innings and won 6-1.
 
The North Dakota vs. Southern Utah series was cancelled due to inclement weather.  Portland State at Seattle was also postponed due to inclement weather.
