OGDEN, Utah (Nov. 13, 2013) - Portland State’s Laura Schott was named the 2013 Big Sky Soccer of the Year in a vote by the league’s 10 head coaches.  This is Schott’s second coach of the year award.

Schott, in her sixth season as head coach, led Portland State to its first unbeaten Big Sky Conference regular season in school history.

The Vikings were the No. 1 seed and hosted the Big Sky Soccer Championship for the first time since 2009.  The Vikings won the regular-season title after going 8-0-1 in the Big Sky Conference.  Portland State ended the 2013 season with a 12-4-3 overall record.

Schott has compiled a 53-46-17 record in her six-year head-coaching career.  In the Big Sky, Schott’s record is 31-7-8, giving her a .760 winning percentage in conference matches.

Schott has led Portland State to at least a share of the Big Sky regular-season title in four of her last six seasons at the helm.  The 2013 season was the sixth-straight season that Portland State has made the Big Sky Championship.

Schott is assisted at Portland State by Melanie Langley, Kibwe Cuffie and Matt Dacey.
