OGDEN, Utah (Jan. 23, 2012) – Eastern Washington’s Carrie Ojeda has been named Big Sky Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the games played the week of Jan. 16 through Jan. 22. This is Ojeda’s first career POTW, and second for a EWU player this season.
Ojeda registered her fourth double-double of the season to lead the Eagles to a 75-67 win on the road against defending Co-Big Sky regular-season champion, and preseason favorite, Portland State.
Ojeda tallied 18 points on 9-of-14 shooting, and corralled a game-high 10 rebounds. She also contributed three blocks, one assist and one steal, as the Eagles remained undefeated on the road in this conference season.
Eastern was able to win the game in Portland after going on a 20-7 run in final five minutes of the contest. During the surge, Ojeda had three rebounds, one block and scored four points.
