Sacramento State’s Joe Eberhard has been selected as the first Big Sky Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week after leading the Hornets to their first 2-0 start since the 2000-01 season.

Eberhard, a 6-foot-6, 210-pound junior forward from Newport Beach, Calif., averaged 11.5 points, seven rebounds and two assists per game as the Hornets picked up home wins over Menlo College and Division I Central Arkansas of the Southland Conference.

Eberhard, a transfer from Irvine Valley Junior College, scored 12 points with seven rebounds and three assists in the Hornets’ 75-54 home victory on Sunday over Central Arkansas. He made 5-of-7 shots form the floor and was 2-of-3 from 3-point range.
In a 70-56 win over Menlo College on Friday, Eberhard scored 11 points with seven rebounds, one assist and a steal.
