Sacramento State defeated Montana State 3-1
In Big Sky volleyball action on Thursday, Sacramento State defeated Montana State 3-1 (23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25- 21).
Big Sky volleyball continues on Friday as Northern Arizona and Weber State compete in Ogden, Utah, at 6 p.m. MST. Idaho State will host Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. MST, and Montana State will travel to Cal State Bakersfield for a non-conference match at 7 p.m. PST. Sacramento State was led by Eryn Kirby who recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 16 digs. She had a .312 hitting percentage for the match, while Maddison Thivierge had 14 kills and a .542 hitting percentage. Hannah Hettinga added 22 assists, and Breanne Menees record 25 digs.
Montana State was led by Alex Penewell who had 12 kills and Sarah Horton added a double-double with 11 kills and 19 digs. Jennifer Lundquist had a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs and Nicole Baker added 27 digs.
MSU took the first set but SAC finally took the final sets. In the third set, the Hornets had a 7-0 lead before the Bobcats scored but were never able to really come back in the set.
In the fourth and final set, MSU was able to come within two before SAC went on a couple of runs and took a six-point lead. The Bobcats were able to come within two at 22-20 but that wasn’t enough as SAC finished the set.
The Hornets will be back in action on Saturday as they take on Montana at 1 p.m. Pacific time.
