Sports Network Honor's NAU's Bauman
Northern Arizona’s Zach Bauman has been selected as The Sports Network/Fathead.com Football Championship Subdivision freshman of the week.
This is the first time The SportsNetwork/Fathead.com has awarded a Freshman of the Week with its weekly national honors.
Bauman, a true freshman from Chandler, Ariz., rushed 22 times for 167 yards and scored four touchdowns in Northern Arizona’s 48-0 victory over Western New Mexico.
The 5-foot-10, 200-pound running back, scored three times in the first half and also scored on a 66-yard run in the third quarter. Bauman’s four touchdowns were the most in the nation by an FCS player in the first week of action.
Appalachian State quarterback DeAndre Presley was named the offensive player of the week. Gardner-Webb linebacker Jeffery Williams claimed the defensive player of the week, while Corey Cushinberry of Southern was the special teams player of the week.
