Ogden, Utah (August 23, 2010) - The Big Sky Conference has announced its women’s soccer players of the week for matches played from August 16-August 22. Northern Colorado swept the awards with forward Danielle Birdsall being tabbed the Offensive Players of the Week, and defender Janelle Kramer as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Birdsall, a sophomore from Broomfield, Colo., scored two goals on six shots in two games in helping Northern Colorado get off to just its 11th 2-0 start in school history. She had both goals in the Bears’ 2-1 victory against Wyoming on Friday, Aug. 20, and she had three more shots and three shots on goal in Northern Colorado’s 2-0 win against Air Force on Sunday.
Junior defender Janelle Kramer led a defense that only allowed one goal, 15 shots, and seven coner-kicks combined from Mountain West members Air Force and Wyoming. The Silver Creek high school product also assisted on Kimmie Feidler’s game-winning goal against Air Force on Sunday.
