OGDEN, UTAH (August 17, 2010) - The 13th season of Big Sky championship soccer will kick off Friday August 20th. Seven of the eight teams in the conference will begin their seasons this weekend, with Eastern Washington waiting until the 27th to get underway.
Weber State opens the season against Utah State, the match will be played in Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy Utah. Rio Tinto Stadium is the home of the MLS Cup Champion Real Salt Lake. Northern Arizona will begin its defense of the Big Sky championship at home, as they will take on in-state rival Arizona State.
The Portland State Vikings will have their hands full when they travel across town to take on perennial power the University of Portland. Sacramento State begins the season against UC Davis, in a match that counts towards the Causeway Cup standings.
On Sunday August 22nd Idaho State will continue its season opening road trip in Chicago in a match with Loyola. The Bears of Northern Colorado will host the Air Force Academy, while Montana will be on the road against New Mexico State.
