Three Big Sky Programs Named to the WBCA 2010 Academic Top 25
ATLANTA - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its winners for the 2009-10 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. This award, given in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College/Community College, awards teams throughout the nation that carry the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches.
The Big Sky Conference was represented by Northern Ariziona, Northern Colorado, and Eastern Washington. The Lumberjacks finished 13th with a team GPA of 3.425, Northern Colorado finished the year with a team GPA of 3.351 for an 18th-place finish. Eastern Washington rounded out the Big Sky programs with a 22nd-place finish and a team GPA of 3.328.
Utah Valley University ranked 1st overall with a team GPA of 3.63. 2009-10 marks the first year that the Wolverines secured the top spot amongst NCAA Division I institutions.
