Freshman Britney Yada shot a 75 on Friday.
Stanford, CA – Britney Yada’s four-over par 75 highlighted the second day of the NCAA West Regional Golf Championship at Stanford Golf Course for the Portland State team. The Vikings stand in a tie for 19th place after two rounds of the tournament. The final round will be played on Saturday.
Yada made two birdies, two bogeys and two double bogeys on her round. The Viking freshman stands at 78-75=153 and is tied for 58th place on the individual leaderboard. Yada climbed 17 places up the board on Friday - a tough scoring day all around.
As a team, Portland State dropped one position from the end of round one when the Vikings were 18th. PSU went a little higher on day two and is at 309-317=626. The Vikings are is tied for 19th with Idaho.
Seventh-ranked Arizona maintained the lead, shooting the best team score of the day with 294. The Wildcats are in first by three shots over top-ranked UCLA. Arizona’s scores are 291-294=585. Meanwhile, the Bruins
hold second place at 292-296=588.
Sixth-ranked Alabama is at 595, with number 13 Virginia at 596, and three other teams at 597.
The 54-hole Regional concludes on Saturday with the final round of play.
Senior Stephanie Johns matched her opening round score and has carded 78-78 for a 156 total. Johns is tied for 73rd among 122 players competing.
Sophomore Tiffany Schoning shot 80 on day two and is tied with Johns in 73rd. She has scores of 76-80=156.
After opening with 77, junior Kalyn Dodge shot 84 on Friday. She is tied for 99th.
San Jose State’s Madeleine Ziegert maintains the lead in the individual competition despite shooting a three-over par 74. Ziegert has shot 67-74 for a one-under par total of 141. She leads Megan McChrystal of LSU by one shot. Camilla Lennarth of Alabama and Callie Nielsen of Virginia are two shots behind.
