OGDEN, Utah (May 19, 2010) - The league head outdoor track and field coaches have named the 2010 Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Meet. The recipients were nominated and voted on by the league coaches for their efforts in the 2010 Big Sky Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Ogden, Utah.

Moira Robinson, a sophomore at Sacramento State, was named the women’s Field Athlete of the Meet. She won gold in the triple jump, long jump, high jump, and the 100m-hurdles. Her 40 total points ties her for most all-time in league history in a single outdoor championship. The Visalia, Calif., native recorded season bests in the high jump, 5’ 8”, and the 100m-hurdles, 13.78 seconds. The only other female athlete to score 40 points in a single championship was Weber State’s Elizabeth Kealamakia at the 1992 championships.

Weber State freshman Sarah Callister was rewarded for her stellar performance by being named women’s Track Athlete of the Meet. Callister, from Ogden, Utah won the 10,000m on Friday night in the time of 35:57.85. She then followed that performance by winning the 5,000m in the time of 17:32.95. Her time in the 10,000m broke the Stewart Stadium Record that had been set by Northern Arizona’s Erika Edwards in 2004.


Portland State senior Nick Trubachik was selected as the male Field Athlete of the Meet for his score in the decathlon of 7,390 points. During the multi-events he recorded a personal-best 14.97 in the 110-meter hurdles and followed that with a 130-11.25 heave in the discus, finishing second in both events. Trubachik cleared 13-11.25 in the pole vault and went on to win the javelin by more than 21 feet with a 198-9.50 throw. Trubachik is the reigning Big Sky indoor heptathlon champion and this is first time he has been selected Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet.

Sacramento State junior Ronald Brookins was selected the men’s Track Athlete of the Meet. Brookins, from San Diego, Calif. turned in an impressive individual performance by winning the 100m dash, 110m-hurdles, and the long jump. He also ran on the silver medal winning Hornet 4x100m relay team. He turned in season bests in the 100m dash and the long jump over the weekend. This is his first Outdoor Track Athlete of the Meet award.
