Montana's Alexander, Weber State's Unger receive Tennis Player of the Week

OGDEN, UTAH (April 6, 2010) - The Big Sky Conference has selected the tennis Players of the Week for matches played between March 30 and April 6. Weber State’s Simon Unger is the men’s Player of the Week. Montana’s Constance Alexander is the women’s Player of the Week.
Freshman Constance Alexander went 3-0 at No. 2 singles, including a win over Marie Demerath of Eastern Washington, helping the Grizzlies to a 4-3 conference win. Alexander won all of her singles matches in straight sets, beating players from San Jose State, University of Seattle and Eastern Washington. Montana beat Eastern Washington, San Jose State, and Seattle University.
In doubles action, Alexander paired with teammate Kayla Moyse at the No. 3 position to go 4-0, bringing their record together to 7-3 for the past 10 matches and 8-6 overall.
The Grizzlies are now 5-2 in conference, trailing No. 2 Northern Arizona and No. 1 Sacramento State.
Simon Unger, a sophomore from Moenchengladbach, Germany, went 3-0 last week at No. 1 singles. Unger won his matches in straight sets against conference foes Montana, Northern Arizona, and Northern Colorado. Unger is now 5-1 in conference play and 10-8 overall.
In doubles play, Unger paired up with teammate Sascha Kiehnee at the No. 1 position to beat Montana 8-2, Northern Colorado 8-1, and Northern Arizona 8-3. The two are undefeated in conference at 6-0 and are 10-7 overall.
The wins last week over Montana, Northern Arizona, and Northern Colorado put Weber State in the No. 2 spot in the conference standings. The Wildcats are 5-1 in conference.
