Up Next: Three Big Sky games are on tap Thursday night, as Weber State will travel to take on Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado will then play host to Idaho State, and Eastern Washington will at Montana State. One conference games will be played Friday night with Montana hosting Portland State, in a match up last year’s Big Sky Championship game. The weekend’s action will end with four conference games and one non-league game Saturday night. Sacramento State will try to extend its six-game winning streak against Pacific in a non-conference game. Northern Arizona will host Idaho State early in the evening, then Weber State will be in Greeley, Colo. to take on Northern Colorado. Montana will host Eastern Washington, and Portland State will head east on I-15 to play Montana State.
Winning Streak: Sacramento State has a six-straight wins after sweeping on the road last weekend. The win streak is the longest since the 1990-91 Hornet team won 10 in a row during the Division II era. Sacramento State takes a week off from Big Sky Conference play, hosting Pacific in a non-conference matchup on Saturday, Feb. 13.
Double-Double Machine: Northern Arizona freshman guard Amy Patton has collected a league leading eight double-doubles this season. Her latest came in a loss to Sacramento State, as she poured in 31 points and 17 rebounds. This marks the third game in which she has totaled 30 or more points and the 17 rebounds ties a conference season single-game high. Her eight double-doubles ranks her 23rd in the nation.
Faucher Extends Her Lead: Portland State’s Claire Faucher became the Big Sky’s all-time career assist leader earlier this season and with each game improves on her mark. This weekend she posted 5 assists in one game, giving her a total of 759.
Let’s Go Streaking: Weber State’s Tonya Schnibbe has posted 18 straight games with four or more assists this season. She dished out eight in the Wildcats’ win over Montana this weekend. Sacramento State’s Ashley Garcia also extended her assist streak to 12 games after two big wins on the road this weekend.
Chasing All-Time Records: Weber State’s Tonya Schnibbe remains at 7th place on Big Sky all-time assist list with 538 career assists. Montana State’s Erica Perry is currently ranked 4th on the conference’s all-time steals list with 264. She has improved from 11th place at the beginning of the season. Former Bobcat Liz Holz holds the current record with 340. Portland State’s Faucher is on Perry’s heels as she stands 6th in the category with 251.
