Christensen Named Big Sky Player of the Week

OGDEN, Utah (February 8, 2010) - Sacramento State’s Emily Christensen has been named the Big Sky Player of the Week for games played the week of February 1st through the 7th. This is first weekly award this season for the junior forward from El Dorado Hills, Calif. The Hornets extended their winning streak to six games with road wins over Portland State and Eastern Washington this weekend.

Christensen scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the Hornets 83-78 win over Portland State on Friday night. Christensen was 11-of-24 from the field against the Vikings, while also adding four assists and four steals. She followed up the performance with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in the Hornets 78-69 victory over first-place Eastern Washington. 

Over the two-game stretch, Christensen averaged 17.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. Christensen is averaging 14.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game during conference play. She has now tallied a double-double for two straight weeks for a total four on the season.
